Imagine life without a pastor? No way. They have been and are extremely important to my spiritual and personal growth. I value their teaching, leadership, and inspiration. I love Ministry Mentors because it is a resource to assist pastors in strengthening their sense of mission and increasing their satisfaction with the important work they are doing. READ BIO

My wife and I served as church music directors for a number of years early in our marriage. Working closely with our pastors we saw the wonderful gifts of their ministries, but also the tremendous burdens they bear as they balance vocational and personal responsibilities, oversee the complex organizations which are their parishes, while proclaiming the Gospel. There are few places where they can receive caring and confidential counsel to guide them. Ministry Mentors exists for just that purpose. We are deeply committed to its ministry to pastors. READ BIO

Executive Director and President
Former Associate Superintendent of the Central Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Chicago, Illinois

Everyone deserves a place where s/he feels safe and supported.  Ministry Mentors is that place for professional clergy.  In my many years of serving in ministry first as a pastor’s spouse, then as a pastor, and later as a middle judicatory leader, I frequently witnessed the need for pastors to find that safe place.  Pastors care for an entire congregation.  Where do pastors go for encouragement and challenge for themselves?  When pastors realize they are not alone in their joys and frustrations, there is a profound connection.  Ministry Mentors helps pastors connect with each other providing interdenominational and confidential support.  I am both honored and excited to lead such a movement that offers assistance to pastors thus helping The Church be the strong voice it needs to be in our ever-changing world. READ BIO

Pastor Emeritus, Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Northfield, Illinois

Through my 36 years of ordained ministry in congregational settings, I was blessed by God in having wonderful mentors. In both times of celebration and times of stress, I knew that I was not alone. To pass that life-saving gift on to others, Ministry Mentors was formed to meet an urgent need: a confidential, independent place for ordained clergy to share their hopes and dreams as well as their stresses and concerns. Going it alone is detrimental to the health of both the pastor and the pastor’s family. Like Abraham, Ministry Mentors team members have been “blessed to be a blessing.” READ BIO

Regional Group Lead Mentor, Western Wisconsin Regional Group
United Church of Christ Pastor, Coon Valley, Wisconsin

Serving on the Ministry Mentors Board of Directors is, for me, an opportunity to participate in the support of pastoral ministry. As a retired clergywoman, I have experienced the highs and lows, the dilemmas, the challenges, and the incredible joys of living out the call to ministry. Without the collegial support of other pastors, I would have found parts of that journey very difficult. If I can help facilitate the availability of a mentor for other pastors, particularly those in a first call, rural, isolated, or challenging setting, I would be thrilled.

There are many things that make this world a better place.  But one of the most profound – that has made a difference for good for eons – is the Christian faith and the Judeo-Christian ethic.  And who carries the burden and banner of that faith and ethic?  It is our clergy.  Those vibrant and unsung souls who inspire, minister and give wings to the faith of their flocks.  I believe that anything that we can do to make these emissaries of Christ proclaim more clearly and more confidently will enrich and better us all.  And make the world a better place.  Ministry Mentors provides a shoulder for our clergy to lean on, an ear for listening and a heart for caring.  Ministry Mentors provides help.  Inspiration.  And spiritual enhancement.  Everyone wins – with Ministry Mentors.  I am proud and yet humbled to serve on the Board of such a dynamic and meaningful organization.    READ BIO
