Lent 2016
Lent 2016

This week you are invited to pray the following thanksgivings.  May I suggest that you pause for some moments of silence after each phrase and reflect on the ways you may connect to the prayer.

Dear God,
Thank you for awakening to another day.
Thank you for continuing support from family and friends.
Thank you for the challenges in our lives that help us clarify and name important values.
Thank you for all the people who have died and left legacies of love, justice, and faith.
Thank you for children who remind us of the gift of being present to each unique moment we live.
Thank you for blossoms that burst forth in many colors.
Thank you for possibilities pregnant with beauty and risk.
Thank you for water.
Thank you for air.
Thank you for fresh fruit.
Thank you for meaningful work.
Thank you for the sun and stars.
Thank you for new places and people.
Thank you for those on the front lines pushing for justice.
Thank you for flowers.
Thank you for tears.
Thank you for illness that reminds us to care for our bodies.
Thank you for questions that don’t have answers.
Thank you for being able to think and plan.
Thank you for history.
Thank you for a heart that can grow to include all no matter what they look like or believe.
Thank you for boundaries.
Thank you for freedom.
Thank you for wisdom.
Thank you for the gift of making mistakes.
Thank you for voices that can be raised in care for others.
Thank you for the words from your prophet Micah:
“This is what Yahweh asks of you: only this, to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God.”
Thank you for making your desire for our lives so clear.
Amen.
